Dubai & Abu Dhabi

Desert, skyline and the mosque that is worth the drive.

Length5 days / 4 nights
Group2–20 travellers
Best monthsNov – Mar
RegionThe Gulf

Five days, two cities, and a deliberate pause in the middle for the desert. Dubai does the tall things well; Abu Dhabi has the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque and the Louvre, both of which reward more than an hour. Direct flights from Colombo make this an easy first trip abroad.

What you'll remember

  • Burj Khalifa level 124 at sunset
  • Dune drive, camel ride and dinner under the stars
  • Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, which takes two hours not one
  • Abra across the creek for one dirham

When to go

November to March is the only comfortable window — daytime highs sit around 25°C. From June to September it passes 45°C and the outdoor half of this itinerary stops making sense.
